New Hampshire Approves Civil Unions

The governor of New Hampshire approved legislation on Wednesday that recognizes civil unions for same-sex partners. This makes New Hampshire the fourth state in the nation to legally recognize same-sex unions. But what makes New Hampshire unique is that the new law would also honor civil unions/domestic partnerships from other states.

"I've listened and I heard all the arguments," said Governor John Lynch. "I do not believe that this bill threatens marriage. I believe that this is a matter of conscience and of fairness. It is never too soon to act to prevent discrimination."
Umm, yeah . . . Good for New Hampshire. I guess they'll become the new gay hot spot du jour, as gays and lesbians take weekend trips to get hitched. Perhaps maple syrup will become the latest gay wedding trend. But am I excited about this? Not really. I've already listed my opposition to marriage (gay and straight), so I won't get into that. But really, who the hell wants to go to New Hampshire? Do they even have a Kenneth Cole there? What about Abercrombie or Home Depot? I'm just kidding . . . no I'm not!
