Cindy Sheehan to Sell Camp Casey

Cindy Sheehan will be selling the land that has become known as "Camp Casey," MSNBC reports. Sheehan purchased the land for $52,000 last year in order to continue her protests outside of George Bush's ranch in Crawford, TX. The land was purchased by a California radio DJ who promises that she turn the land into a peace memorial and continue to allow peace activists to use the cite.

Sheehan stepped down from the peace movement on Memorial Day, citing her disillusionment with the Democratic party and her desire to spend more time with her family. Sheehan became the public face of the peace movement after her son Casey was killed in Iraq.

It's good to hear that the land is being bought by someone who supports the peace movement, since the first group who tried to buy the land was a pro-war group called Move America Forward. I really admire Sheehan's tenacity. I wouldn't have made it two days at Camp Casey, let alone two years. I like to shower too much. Here's to hoping that someone else will step up to the plate to pick up where Cindy left off.
